Introduction

When it comes to their location, businesses that cater to the general public are acutely aware of two pressing needs: the need to control costs, and the need for an alluring space that draws customers. Time and again, Bovenzi has fulfilled both needs with elegant designs that delight clients, adhere strictly to budget, and accommodate even the most demanding requirements. Please browse through a few examples of our commercial work:

217 221 Central Avenue

An elegant historic streetscape had lost its luster. Modern signage covered antique leaded glass; attractive walls had been tiled over; paint selection had not brought out the building’s best features. With the arrival of new tenants, however—a thrift shop and a healthcare center—came the call for renovation.

Bovenzi oversaw a meticulous restoration of the building, recapturing its historic flavor while optimizing the interior space for the tenants’ needs. The team exposed the glass and walls, removed aluminum doors, and selected colors to evoke the period in which the structure was built. The design also included retrofitting of doorways and other features for ADA compliance.

Clarion Inn & Suites

Built on different levels, lacking any spatial connection, the two guest-room buildings seemed like two different motels entirely. The challenge was to integrate them into a single inn with its own look and identity.

Between the buildings, Bovenzi created an elegant, glass-encased two-story lobby with fitness and business centers, conference rooms, a charming breakfast area—and a sweeping balcony overlooking it all. The two-story design made for a smooth transition between the buildings’ differing levels and provided indoor passage throughout the complex. Under Bovenzi’s direction, many rooms were transformed into full suites with hot tubs, and all areas were made ADA-compliant.

The bank had purchased a former café and candy store as the site of its next branch. While the location was ideal, the interior was ill suited for typical branch operations. Bank officials asked Bovenzi for a complete retrofitting of the building on a very tight schedule.

The result: a design that maximized the function of the interior, preserved the building’s attractive look, and hit every project milestone. Inside, Bovenzi made optimal use of every square foot to fit a vault, a new security system, space for personnel, and other amenities into a tight area. Outside, the team seamlessly blended a new 24-hour ATM with the building’s exterior—no small feat on such a small lot.
